Penis size and lovemaking positions

The penis is the 'mechanical' centrepiece of intercourse allowing lovemaking to occur, different positions to be performed and pleasure to be had by both partners. To do this very important job successfully, the penis needs meet certain criteria, and a fundamental one is its size...

If the penis is under a certain size, less than ten centimetres or so, it can easily slip out of the vagina at the slightest change in position or with each movement. In addition, when thighs or buttocks keep the man’s pubis at a distance from his partner’s vulva, a smaller sized penis will not be able to penetrate at all... or just the tip of the penis.

Therefore lovemaking positions will have to be found allowing more immediate contact, pubis against pubis. There is the Missionary position, where the woman is lying down on her back and the man is between her legs, for example, especially if the thighs are raised and spread wide apart, so that the penis gets a good fit.

Also, the woman can position herself so that her sexual organs are on a level with the edge of the bed so that her partner, who is standing up or kneeling, can press against her, pelvis to pelvis. The Soaring gull positon is ideal for the smaller penis. The result is the same if the woman is lying on a table, her legs either dangling or raised. On the other hand, penetration is rarely deep enough in the Doggy position to be satisfying for either partner.

To get round the problem of size, the thrusting movements have to be smaller too and a better option is to rub against the clitoris rather than simply going in and out. The Andromaque position is ideal for good contact both of the vagina and the clitoris.

Of course, none of the non-penetrative positions should be disregarded either, such as the 69er, as these positions in themselves a great source of excitement and pleasure.

Lovemaking for wider sized penises

Most men probably won't believe this, but having a large penis can be a problem too, whether it is too long or too thick in diameter. Many women are more at ease and relaxed when faced with an average length or thinner than average penis, whereas they can feel tense and apprehensive faced with a penis that bigger or wider. It only takes one bad experience to put a woman off for life...

If the penis has a wide girth, some time should be spent in loosening up the muscles at the entrance to the vagina before attempting penetration.  The vagina also needs to be well-lubricated before penetration is attempted, either naturally or using a lubricating gel. If there is the slightest bit of force needed for the penis to enter, it can be quite painful.

Some 'well-endowed' men complain about not being able to have sex easily, as their partners shy away at the last minute because they’re afraid that it will hurt. But other women know how to adapt to a large girth well, and turn to their advantage the sensations that can be enjoyed with a larger penis.

Sexual pleasure with every penis size and shape

As for length, the vagina can extend in depth by several centimetres and can therefore accommodate almost all sizes. You can play around with positions: choosing positions where the buttocks or the thighs hold the man at a distance: you can also limit penetration, which doesn’t need to be total, to ‘up to the hilt’ which is pleasurable. In ancient times, they even recommended putting little cushions around the orifice of the vulva to stop penetration going too deep...

The Spoons position position is excellent to keep penetration at a bit of a distant, and is one of the most popular positions during pregnancy. You could also try out the Jewellery box position position (also known as the Lazy position), which is sensual and controlled.

All in all, whether you have a large or a small penis, you have to be realistic: not every penis lets you perform every position, but neither does every pair of knees, every lower back, every stomach or every pair of hips! There are lots of different ways individuals or couples are physically limited which narrow their choice of positions for making love and the size of the penis is by no means the only one.

There are myriad possibilities to explore, and many amazing sensations to discover both with and without penetrative sex. You should come up with your own personal sexuality, suited to your own mental make-up and body as well as that of your partner.
