Does my penis shape up?

Penis: it's not the (shoe) size that counts!

There are lots of popular myths relating penis size and other body parts - the nose, hands or feet, for instance.

In the comedy "Notting Hill," Julia Roberts asks rather disingenuously, "You know what they say about men with big feet?" And, in real life, as in the film, the answer is rather unexpected.

To find out if this myth was based on a "scientifically demonstrable" fact, two urologists measured the length of 104 men's penises, recording also their age and shoe size. The researchers measured the men's penises when they were flaccid but gently "stretched."

Although the true size of the penis can only be determined when erect, the researchers indicated that their method gave a good indication of length. At the end of their study, analysis of data revealed that:

  • The average penis size was 13cm, but varied from 6 to 18 cm
  • The average shoe size was 9 (English size)/43 (European size).

But looking at the data as a whole, there seemed to be no correlation between the two measurements. Once again science sets the record straight and another myth bites the dust!
