The Jewellery box
Lustful contemplation of one’s partner is a normal part of lovemaking. In the Jewellery box position, which is also known as the Lazy position you don’t need to be athletic, just tender and receptive.

The embrace of the Jewellery box is particularly reassuring in the early days of a relationship when sex can be a source of anxiety for the new lovers.
In this position, both lovers lie on their side, face to face. Before penetration, they take time to kiss and explore each other’s bodies. Searching with their tongues, they lick each other’s stomachs, genitals, breasts and nipples. They clasp hands; or, seek out the intimate and soft recesses of their lover’s body with their fingers: the man stimulates the woman’s clitoris and mons pubis while the woman caresses her lover’s testicles and penis. Eventually, they are overwhelmed with desire and unable to resist penetration.
The man lies with one leg outstretched on the bed; he folds his other leg and places it against the woman’s supporting leg, which is also outstretched, so that they are thigh to thigh. The woman raises her other leg and folds it so that the crook of her knee is resting on the man’s hip. The two partners entwine their legs, in a quasi-symmetrical position, encasing their genitals in this protective casket.
In the Jewellery box, the vulva is only partially open and the vagina is narrowed so when the man penetrates his lover, he does so very gently. The man may continue to tease his lover, barely entering her. He may stimulate her clitoris with his penis while they kiss and embrace. He may, however, shift slightly, towards the top of the bed, which will intensify the contact between penis and vagina.
The woman may be impatient to reach orgasm and may express this frustration by arching and moving her lower back; the man will then penetrate her more deeply, moving his buttocks and stomach in rippling, rhythmic movements.
In the Jewellery box position, neither lover has much room for manoeuvre. Consequently, the feelings of desire and pleasure enjoyed by the lovers are particularly subtle. For the man, the narrowness of the vagina in this position, and the considerable pressure on the penis during intercourse, can result in an intense sensation, culminating in orgasm. The woman enjoys the sensation of thrusting against her inner labia and, consequently, can often reach orgasm quite easily.
