The Chimpanzee
The chimpanzee position, like the wheelbarrow, is without a doubt among the Kama Sutra’s trickiest. Yet it is also a great way to try a couple’s dexterity and courage. Not everyone can perform this primal position, but the extraordinary pleasure it brings makes it well worth trying.

The Kama Sutra owes much of its worldwide fame to its inventiveness. A perfect example of this is the chimpanzee position, whose acute difficulty is only matched by the pleasure it produces for both partners.
At first, it’s difficult to imagine how you’re going to get into this position, where the man lies on his back with his bent legs apart and uplifted. Normally, his penis would be resting on his stomach, but for this position, it needs to be erect and pointing towards the sky. He needs to maintain it in place while simultaneously holding the woman’s hips to guide her onto himself. This is necessary because she has her back to him and can’t see anything.
To keep her balance, the woman needs to stay upright in her squatting position, like a chimpanzee. Chances are that your first try won’t be successful, and you may need to give it a couple more tries before you get it right. The man sets the rhythm while holding his partner and can also give short thrusts to deepen penetration. The woman’s position allows her to move her pelvis up and down at will, thereby controlling the intensity of the lovemaking. She can also caress the highly erogenous base of her partner’s testicles and venture to insert a finger into his anus, if this is his thing.
Variations are possible, yet even more physically challenging: the woman can move up and down while her partner moves back and forth, which requires perfect movement coordination but this is the best way to enjoy your shared pleasure. More importantly, the chimpanzee position is an ideal getaway from everyday routine and provides a welcome change from the usual missionary position.
As you may have guessed, the chimpanzee position isn’t meant for novices. The man may quickly tire under the weight of his partner if she doesn’t relax and let herself be handled. Although you will easily reach climax, you have limited leeway and see virtually nothing of your lover, which makes visual enjoyment and arousal difficult. But it’s definitely a price worth paying.
